Haiti Outreach

The organization we’ll be partnering with and our in country host, Haiti Outreach, has a long history of working in Haiti as well as hosting groups.  Amongst their many community driven projects, their principal focus is clean water and they have drilled wells and built water systems benefiting more then 120,000 people in Haiti.  For more information about this incredible organization and the amazing work they do, please visit their website at www.haitioutreach.org.

Team Haiti 2011

From January 20th to the 28th of next year, our team from Eastlake Community Church will be traveling to the town of Pignon in the central plateau region of Haiti to help build a well housing and install a pump for a rural community that currently does not have access to clean drinking water.  During this time we will have the opportunity to meet many of the proud and hard working families living in this impoverished community; Seeing how they survive each day, working along side them, hearing their personal stories, listening to their dreams, drawing witness to the amount of hope clean water can bring a struggling community and, most importantly, offering and experiencing the love of God like never before.

Join us, as we work together over the next couple months to raise the funds needed to cover the materials for this well project and provide the people in this community access to safe drinking water for the first time.
On January 12, 2010 a 7.0 earthquake struck the nation of Haiti, taking the lives of more than 250,000 people while leaving over one million others homeless.  Life has always been very hard in Haiti; the aftermath of the earthquake made an already dire situation even worse. The conditions in the nation’s largest city, Port au Prince, crumbled so badly that a massive migration to the rural areas and towns outside the city has been underway ever since. This has only made these already impoverished rural communities that much more in need of assistance in establishing the most basic infrastructure necessities.  Our team will be going down to assist one of these communities in gaining access to the most essential resource of all; water.

Much of the plan to rebuild a sustainable and successful future for Haiti lies in developing the outlying rural areas. Access to clean water is the crucial first step to helping make a community stronger.  It's the bare essential that will allow Haiti to progress as well as sustain those that have been so heavily affected by this disaster.  Please join us as we work together with the Haitian people to initiate change within their communities and establish hope for a devastated people and nation.
